Hurry...Hurry

I just got done reading a book "The Purpose Driven Life" a 40 day reading along with a group.

I was hoping to find "my" purpose for "my" life.

And, well maybe I did. But I’m in a hurry. I must hurry -life is short and I have so much to do. I need to read the bible more, help others more, spread the word more. And, well I got other stuff to do too. Like -sew an Easter dress for my granddaughter, make another jean patch work jacket, organize a "tour of Tables" at the senior center, get my taxes organized, get out my 1099's (they were due out by January31st) and my list goes on and on.

I remember my Grandmother saying the older she gets the faster time goes...man I’m feeling old.

Something else that did it the other day was a penny. I know, a penny? Yes. I can't walk by one without picking it up for fear my day may turn bad simply because of the riddle, "See a penny, pick it up, and all day long you'll have good luck." Well the other day I picked up my penny satisfied that I just made my day a little better. So what made me feel old you say. I looked at the date, 2001. The I got to thinking...I used to be able to pick up change and find my birth year or at least in the area of that year. Now days not only do I not find coins that old I don't even find then for the year I graduated anymore. It wasn't that long ago that I graduated was it? In a way is seem like only a few year ago. Then again it seems like years and years ago. There was a time I wasn't sure where my life was going. I was in my 30's with no job and uncertain of my future. Thank goodness that time is over. I am now in a job I really do love, we live in a town I really do like, and I have a family a guy could only dream of. Not finding the right penny sucks but really life ain't so bad even if a penny makes me feel a little old.

Man, if you feel old...what does that make me? Older than old. Older than dirt. What is that drug they take for depression??

I had a moment like this the other night while watching TV. They had one of those "flashback" scenes. Well, wouldn't you know it the flashback was way back to 1999. That was a year after I graduated from college! And they are flashing back to this era? Cmom feeling old like this should be left up to my very much older brother...
