Oh My Longhorns
This year we are having a terrible drought.
The hay is awful short.
The pasture never did green up much so....my man said "somethings gotta go."
He had said he was selling some of his beef cows and now he said some of my Longhorns have to go. Oh man, I don’t want to sell any Longhorns. -My beautiful babies! So my man and I took a spin threw the Longhorn herd last weekend. A couple of the cows didn’t have calves this year. That’s never bothered him before, but maybe this is the year. And there’s the calf with the rupture, maybe I could sell him. But gee, they are like pets and I hate to sell any. I hope he gives me a few weeks to think this thing over. I’m adding a few pictures to show all of you how beautiful they really are.
They do make us money...
they don’t eat that much...
oh... this is going to be hard.

I can see why you are attached. How many longhorns do you have?
About 50 cows and bulls. And of course this time of year we have the babies so the herd gets close to 100.
I have to tell you I thought it was dry here in Hankinson when we moved. But I was through Wishek heading to and from Bismarck for a meeting on Thurs and Fri and let me tell you it is EXTREEMELY dry out there. I could hardly believe it!
