The Gelvig Shuffle
We sold our Red Gelvig calves yesterday. No stress for me--lots of stress for the old man.
So stressfull that he forgot to tell me we were selling calves untill Thursday evening. It's started like "Oh by the way did you know we're selling the calves Saturday?"
Oh Really? I replied. Just when did we quit communicating about everyday things I wondered.
I had failed to tell him I was leaving on an overhight Women of Faith retreat last weekend. I know I told him but, in hind sight I don't think he was listening. And now I suppose the calves goiing to market had been told to me --I must not have been listening.
And tonight I'm at Hankinson (on a Grandma trip) and I wanted to call and visit. Catch up, so to speak and he doesn't answer. Is he out checking on little Knit and Pearl, the twin valves that were to small to sell with the big bunch. Or is he checking on Tip and Ring the twin calves we sold who are waiting in a pen at the sales barn for a semi-truck to come and take them to a feed lot in Kansas.
The Red Gelvig Shuffle---I hate it. And I hate the fact that the old man and I haven't had time to talk lately. Or should I say we haven't had time to listen.

Thank goodness there are no kids to get lost in the shuffle. Thanks a million for coming to watch the kids. We had a great time. It has been a long time since we have been to a concert and even out on the town alone doesn't happen anymore. Thanks.
