Holiday Memories

What’s your favorite Holiday memory? This year was a memory maker for me. A bunch of us Benson/Brandner’s gathered at the civic center here in town for a yummy dinner of Ronnie’s ham along with cheesy potatoes, salad’s ect, AND Grandma Esther’s caramels. It wouldn’t be Christmas for some without Grandma caramels. Some would say it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without Grandma Aberle’s dressing.

One of my favorite Holiday memory’s is when I was about 10 years old. I got a new dress for the Christmas program. We had a huge short needled Christmas tree. All of us kids had new home made stockings with sequence and our names in felt on them. I remember receiving crisp white ice skates to fly around our in door skating rink down at the hockey arena.

The best part of the whole school vacation thing was Grandma Johnson’s lefse. M—M-M the melt in your mouth stuff. This year I didn’t make lefse –even tho a few years ago the kids gave me a shiny new lefse griddle and I found a lefse flipper thingy with rosemauling on it. I just put off making it too long this year.

So even tho the Christmas gathering was great, the grand kids were great, the running around the gym was great. I really missed the lefse. The lefse with the taste and the texture that brings back memories of my childhood and being 10.

Merry Christmas!

This is a couple of pictures of my Church here in Wishek. This year a few of our members spearheaded the Christmas decorations. One’s a retired designer from Mpls and the other is a past owner of a flower shop. And O what a pair they have been.

After 14 trees and more than 5,000 lights we have a wonderland! Our new minister has been so inspiring and open to all the new ideas. Our congregation is so blessed.

Ron and I both are wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and remember Jesus is the reason for the season.

God bless you all!
